Product FAQ

Planning a custom wooden watch box project

This guide explains the information required to quote and manufacture a wooden watch box from a customer-supplied design. Because each structure, material, finish and quantity is different, pricing and timing are confirmed after technical review.

Can UGI manufacture custom wooden watch boxes?

Yes. UGI manufactures custom wooden watch boxes with in-house woodworking, finishing, assembly and interior lining processes. Boxes can be produced according to the customer’s approved design, drawings, dimensions and specifications.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

UGI does not apply one fixed minimum quantity to every custom wooden watch box project. Order quantity is flexible and is evaluated together with the materials, structure, hardware and finishing requirements.

Each project has fixed engineering, setup and production preparation costs, so the unit price can differ significantly between small and large quantities. Please provide the required quantity so that the applicable sample cost, unit price and lead time can be calculated.

What fixed costs affect the price of a custom wooden watch box?

Fixed project costs may include drawing review, prototype development, production documentation, CNC and woodworking setup, cutting fixtures, material preparation, custom colour matching, painting and finishing setup, hardware sourcing, interior lining preparation, logo tooling, assembly setup and initial quality inspection.

These costs are required even for a small run. Lower quantities therefore normally have a higher unit price because the preparation costs are distributed across fewer boxes. Some tooling or setup charges may not need to be repeated for an unchanged repeat order; this is confirmed in the quotation.

How is the prototype or sample cost calculated?

The sample fee depends on the wood or board material, structure, dimensions, hardware, surface finish, interior material and branding process. Special hardware, complex structures or multi-stage finishes may introduce additional prototype or tooling costs.

How long does prototype production take?

Prototype production normally takes 7–10 days after the design, dimensions, materials, hardware, finish and interior requirements are confirmed. A particularly complex structure or custom component may require additional time, which will be stated before sampling begins.

What is the production lead time after sample approval?

Standard production normally takes 15–45 days after the sample, artwork, specifications and production order have all been approved. Complex wooden structures, special hardware or multi-stage finishing may take longer than 45 days; any extended schedule will be confirmed with the quotation.

Can you manufacture the box exactly according to our drawings?

Yes. The box can be 100% customised according to approved drawings and specifications, including dimensions, structure, compartments, hinges, locks, magnets, watch cushions, interior layout, logo position and protective packaging.

Customers are encouraged to complete their own product design and provide clear production drawings. UGI will review the files for manufacturing feasibility before quotation and sampling.

What wood and board materials are available?

Options include solid wood, environmentally responsible MDF, plywood and wood-veneer constructions. Different wood species and veneer appearances can be evaluated according to the required design, strength, finish, quantity and budget.

What exterior finishes and colours can be produced?

Available options include matte or gloss paint, staining, clear lacquer, natural wood veneer, piano-style lacquer and custom colour matching. The finish is confirmed through drawings, colour references and sample approval.

Can we choose the leather and interior colour?

Yes. Interior options include PU, PVC and genuine leather in a range of colours and textures. Interior construction, watch cushions, trays and compartments can be customised to fit the product and presentation requirements.

Can you provide pricing for different quantities?

Yes. UGI can provide quantity-based pricing after reviewing the complete specification. Prices are calculated from the required quantity, dimensions, material, construction, hardware, interior, branding, finishing, packing method and delivery requirements. Fixed prices are not published because the difference between specifications and quantities can be substantial.

What information is required for an accurate quotation?

Please provide the finished dimensions, 2D drawings and available 3D or CAD files, logo artwork in AI or PDF format, material and colour requirements, interior material, hardware, required quantity, packing method and delivery destination. Reference samples or photographs should also be supplied when available.
