Coffee and Tea Gift Boxes: Primary Packs, Inserts and Aroma Protection

To effectively promote your tea and chocolate brands through gift packaging boxes, consider the following elements:

Coffee and Tea Gift Boxes: Primary Packs, Inserts and Aroma Protection

Coffee and tea gift boxes are usually secondary packaging around sealed bags, tins, sachets or jars. The primary pack controls aroma, oxygen, moisture and direct food contact; the gift box controls presentation, grouping, protection and labeling space.

UGI Packaging manufactures paper gift boxes, inserts and printed accessories in our factory. Our packaging development service aligns the box with the actual coffee or tea packs rather than assuming one standard compartment.

Start with the sealed products

Provide the filled dimensions and weights of every bag, tin, sachet, scoop, cup or accessory. State whether coffee is whole bean, ground or single serve and whether tea is loose leaf, bagged or compressed. Aroma and moisture protection belong primarily to the sealed pack unless a direct-contact component is specifically approved.

The European Commission food-contact materials overview explains EU food-contact principles within its scope. A secondary box separated from food has a different contact boundary from a direct-contact tray or liner.

  • Primary-pack type and filled size
  • Product weight and number of varieties
  • Aroma and moisture boundary
  • Direct-contact inserts or liners
  • Compartment and removal method
  • Label, origin and brewing information
  • Gift closure and opening sequence
  • Outer packing and temperature exposure

Approve the gift set loaded

A sample should confirm that packs do not slide, crush or obscure labels and that customers can remove them without tearing. Mixed tins, jars and flexible bags require load distribution and separation. Windows should not be assumed to protect against light or barrier loss.

Our factory manufactures and prints the approved box, insert, sleeve and accessory set. Production begins after primary packs, structure, materials, artwork, evidence requirements, loaded sample and packing are approved. Our QC team checks fit, compartment position, closure, print and assembly.

Frequently asked questions

Does the gift box preserve coffee aroma?

Usually the sealed primary pack provides the aroma and moisture barrier. The outer box should not be treated as a substitute.

Can coffee and tea share one gift box?

Yes, if each primary pack is suitable and the insert prevents damage, odor interaction and movement.

What should be supplied for sampling?

Provide filled production packs or dimensionally and weight-representative samples for every item and accessory.

Can the box include a window?

Yes, but approve light exposure, film, window size, gluing and the visibility of the actual loaded products.
