Is there a standard greyboard thickness for every rigid gift box?

No. The suitable construction depends on finished dimensions, panel span, product mass and load distribution, insert support, closure, wrapping method and distribution conditions. A supplier recommendation should therefore be tied to the actual box specification rather than presented as a universal standard.

Is thicker greyboard always stronger?

Not necessarily. Thickness is one measurable property, while bending stiffness and finished-box performance also depend on the board grade, density, fibre composition, moisture condition, grain direction, joints and box geometry. Compare supplier data for the proposed grade and verify the completed construction.

What information should buyers provide before choosing greyboard thickness?

Provide the finished internal and external dimensions, product dimensions and mass, product orientation, insert design, closure type, expected stacking, shipping method and appearance requirements.
