The structure should follow the set, not nostalgia for CD or DVD packaging.
Structure and material decisions
We start with a numbered component list and opening order. A hinged rigid box supports book-like presentation; a drawer sleeve creates a staged reveal; a foldable gift box can reduce shipping volume. Paperboard dividers, stepped platforms and folded corrugated supports can separate robust items. How UGI Packaging produces it
UGI Packaging develops a CAD dieline and structural sample using product dimensions, weights and orientation. Factory operations can include paper cutting, offset or digital printing, lamination or coating, foil stamping, embossing or debossing, die cutting, creasing, greyboard cutting, V-grooving, paper mounting, folding, gluing and insert assembly. Variable codes, activation information or region-specific copy need a controlled data and artwork workflow; we do not assume ordinary decorative printing is suitable for secure credential generation.
Information needed for an accurate quotation
Supply the full bill of components, dimensions and weights, region/version matrix, opening sequence, required document pockets, insert preferences, printed surfaces, finishes, quantity and packing responsibility. Cost drivers can include multiple cavities, hand assembly, separate booklets, variable-version artwork, specialty paper, foil or embossing tools and complex kitting. The quotation should state which components UGI Packaging packs and which arrive prepacked or protected by the buyer.
Sampling and the production start point
A structural white sample checks cavity size, removal access, component collision and closure. A digital print sample checks hierarchy and approximate artwork placement. A production-process sample may be needed when dark wraps, foil, embossing or close registration carries the collector value. Sample components should match production weight and critical dimensions; lightweight placeholders can conceal tray deflection. Production starts only after component data, version control, artwork, materials, quantity and the agreed sample are approved.
Quality control and common failure points
We check every set against the approved component list, orientation and version, then inspect insert retention, lid closure, booklet pockets, print registration, finish placement, glue and surface condition. Common failures include missing components, mixed regional copy, shallow finger access, heavy parts crushing printed ephemera, and a cavity that fits the prototype but not normal product variation. Handling symbols for distribution packages can be selected from ISO 780 where applicable, but the brand owner must decide which instructions are necessary and ensure they match the actual distribution package.
