UGI Packaging manufactures custom paper gift bags and their rope, ribbon, paper, textile, PU leather and die-cut handle systems in our factory. We convert and print paper, cut and prepare handle materials, punch or die-cut openings, fit eyelets or reinforcement, assemble handles and inspect the finished carrier. Handle selection must begin with packed weight, bag dimensions, carry distance and desired opening action.
Choose the handle from load and presentation
Twisted paper rope is efficient for many retail bags; cotton or synthetic rope changes hand feel and knot behavior; satin and grosgrain ribbon emphasize presentation; PU leather handles need cut-edge and attachment control; die-cut handles transfer load directly into the paper panel.
Specify paper and reinforcement together
Paper grade, thickness, lamination, top fold, reinforcement board, hole spacing, eyelet and handle length work as one load system. Increasing paper weight alone does not correct a weak attachment or poorly placed hole.
Our paper gift-bag guide covers carrier construction, while custom gift-bag production covers wider material and print choices.
Control finishes and attachment details
Lamination, foil, embossing and spot coatings must avoid cracking at the top fold and handle holes. Knots, T-bar ends, eyelets, rivets, glued patches and sewn leather tabs use different pull paths, so the approved assembly and test method must be written into the specification.
Sampling, testing and QC
Send packed-product dimensions and weight, bag size, paper, top construction, handle material and length, attachment, artwork, finishes, quantity and packing method. Define a lift or pull test using the intended load and conditioning; ISTA procedures may support wider distribution testing but do not replace a project-specific handle acceptance method.
Our QC checks dimensions, paper and reinforcement, hole position, handle length, knots or fittings, pull-test result, print, finishes, glue and pack count.
Frequently asked questions
Which handle is best for a paper gift bag?
Choose from packed weight, bag dimensions, carry distance, desired hand feel, opening action, attachment method and budget.
Does heavier paper guarantee a stronger handle?
No. Reinforcement, hole position, eyelets or patches, handle ends, adhesive and the complete load path also determine performance.
Can UGI Packaging manufacture PU leather handles?
Yes. Our confirmed scope includes leather and PU cutting, preparation, sewing, branding, assembly and QC for relevant handle designs.
What does handle QC inspect?
QC checks handle material and length, hole spacing, reinforcement, fittings or knots, pull-test result, print, finishes and packing.
