Where this box works – and where it does not
The format suits shirts, scarves, lingerie, knitwear and apparel gift sets where a premium reusable presentation is desired and flat inbound packing saves space. It is less suitable for very heavy footwear, sharp hardware, wet garments or operations that cannot consistently square and secure the box. If packing speed is more important than a rigid hand feel, a folding carton or corrugated mailer may be simpler.
Structure and material decisions
Common constructions use four connected rigid-board panels wrapped with paper, with corner tapes, locking tabs or magnets forming the box. How UGI Packaging produces it
We develop a CAD dieline and digitally cut a white sample, then test folding, squaring, corner closure and garment pack-out. Production may include paper cutting, offset or digital printing, lamination or coating, foil stamping, embossing or debossing, greyboard cutting, V-grooving, paper mounting, tape or magnet placement, folding and final inspection. Equipment creates repeatable cuts and grooves, while accurate hand or semi-assisted assembly remains important for wrapped corners, tapes and closure alignment.

Send folded garment length, width and compressed/relaxed stack height, item count, tissue and accessory layout, box style, closure type, printed surfaces, finishes, quantity, pack-out location and shipping configuration. Board and wrap choices, magnets, ribbons, tapes, specialty paper, foil/embossing tools and hand assembly affect the quotation. Specify whether boxes must arrive fully flat or partly assembled and how the packing team will erect them.
Sampling and the production start point
Pack the white sample with actual garments after the intended folding method and conditioning. Check lid closure, sidewall bowing, tissue allowance, tag position, corner strength and erection time. A digital sample reviews artwork placement; a production-process sample may be needed for specialty wraps, foil, embossing, magnet feel or dark-color scuff risk. Production begins after final packed dimensions, materials, artwork, closure, quantity and approval sample are released.
Quality control and common failure points
We inspect board and wrap dimensions, V-groove depth, panel alignment, corner tapes or tabs, magnet polarity and position where used, erected squareness, lid fit, surface condition and print/finish registration. Common failures include boxes that spring out of square, overfilled garments lifting the lid, exposed greyboard at folds, tape peeling on a dusty surface and magnets closing unevenly.
