Why a Detailed Custom Ring Box Inquiry Still Needed Clarification Before Quotation
A two-piece ring-box concept combined a covered rigid shell, a faux-fur foam insert, decorative flowers, a pouch and debossed branding. Before price could be calculated reliably, the structural, dimensional, material, artwork and assembly inputs had to be reconciled.
The quotation decision: a detailed concept is not yet a production specification
The inquiry gave a strong design direction: a large covered rigid ring box, a separate lid and base, an interior foam insert with faux fur and flowers, a drawstring pouch, and a debossed lid. Those are useful starting inputs, but they do not by themselves define one manufacturable assembly.
The correct next step was clarification before a formal quotation. The structure, height breakdown, approved colour standard, logo artwork, insert geometry, flower assembly, pouch specification and material route must be locked before tooling, manual assembly work and freight assumptions can be assessed.
Inquiry issues that block quotation
Before any price or timeline can be trusted, the following contradictions and missing production inputs must be resolved. Each point comes directly from the inquiry or its specification reference; none should be filled in by assumption.

Why a low-volume complex assembly needs special costing discipline
A covered rigid box with a debossed lid, developed foam insert, faux-fur finish, decorative flower placement and an accessory pouch combines recurring materials with fixed development and setup work. Fixed work can include deboss tooling, insert development, material sampling, cutting preparation and assembly set-up. Hand placement and inspection can also add labour that does not scale like a plain stock box.
At 150 pieces, those fixed inputs are distributed across too few finished units for this level of custom assembly. The resulting unit price is therefore very likely to be materially above a low delivered-price expectation. For this specific complex construction, UGI recommends treating 500 pcs as the minimum production quantity for a formal comparison quotation. This is a commercial recommendation for this Case, not a universal MOQ.
Sample, swatch, freight and delivery must be confirmed separately
Physical samples, material and colour swatches, pre-production approval, air or ocean transport, DDP assumptions and the requested in-hand date are separate decisions. A requested November arrival is not, by itself, a production or shipping commitment. The quotation must show which route, approval window and delivery assumptions apply before any date can be treated as feasible.
What this Case does and does not establish
This Case establishes why the inquiry required clarification before quotation and why a limited quantity concentrates fixed setup and manual-assembly costs. It does not establish an actual price, final specification, material availability, sample result, freight rate, test result or delivery commitment.
