Is there one standard MOQ for every custom gift box?
No. MOQ can reflect a supplier commercial policy, material purchasing constraints or the quantity at which a production route becomes workable. It should not be treated as a universal industry number, and UGI Packging should confirm it only after reviewing the actual specification.
What is an economical production quantity?
It is the order range where setup, material yield, waste, labour or automation and quality control produce a practical unit cost for a defined job. It is not necessarily the same as the smallest quantity technically possible.
Why does box structure affect MOQ and unit cost?
Folding cartons, conventional rigid boxes and collapsible rigid boxes use different cutting, creasing or grooving, wrapping, forming, gluing and assembly steps. Each route has different setup requirements, throughput, material yield and packing volume.
How do printing and decorative finishes affect quantity economics?
Print colours, foil, embossing, Spot UV and lamination can require plates, dies, screens, blocks, setup sheets, registration checks and cleaning. The artwork area, sequence and compatible equipment affect both setup waste and unit cost.
Why can inserts increase the economical quantity?

Can several artwork designs share one MOQ?
Sometimes, but only when structure, dimensions, materials and production scheduling are compatible. Each artwork may still require separate plates, ink setup, colour approval and sorting. Ask which costs are shared and which repeat for every design.
Is a simpler finish always cheaper at every quantity?
Not necessarily. A simpler specification often removes steps, but equipment route, material price, yield, setup, supplier availability and quantity can change the comparison. Use quotations for defined alternatives rather than a universal finish ranking.
How should buyers compare quotations at different quantities?
Separate one-time tooling and setup, sample charges, unit price, packing, quality requirements and freight. Compare identical materials and finishes, calculate landed cost and inventory exposure, and ask what changes at each quantity break.
