Packaging Quality Control

Quality Control

Quality built into every production stage

From incoming material to shipment release, UGI uses defined checks to protect colour, structure, finish, function and consistency.

Quality System

Control starts before the press runs

Quality requirements are established during quotation, artwork review and sample approval. The approved specification becomes the production reference for material, dimensions, print, colour, finishing, assembly and packing.

UGI operates with documented quality-management procedures and can align inspection records, sampling plans and compliance documentation with customer or destination-market requirements.

Inspection Workflow

Six checkpoints from specification to shipment

Each checkpoint is designed to find issues early, contain non-conforming material and keep approved standards visible to production teams.

01 — Specification review

Confirm approved dieline, materials, tolerances, colour references, finishes, packing method and acceptance criteria.

02 — Incoming materials

Check paper, board, films, inks, adhesives and accessories against purchase specifications and project requirements.

03 — Prepress and proofing

Review artwork, trapping, bleed, barcodes, text, colour targets and proof approvals before plates or production files are released.

04 — In-process control

Monitor printing, colour consistency, registration, die-cutting, lamination, foil, embossing, gluing and assembly during production.

05 — Final inspection

Inspect dimensions, appearance, function, workmanship, packing and quantity using agreed sampling and defect classifications.

06 — Shipment release

Record inspection results, isolate non-conforming goods, complete corrective action where required and release only accepted shipments.

Acceptance Criteria

AQL, defect classes and project-specific limits

Where AQL sampling is specified, inspection can follow an agreed sampling level with critical, major and minor defect classifications. Projects with tight colour, barcode, food-contact or functional requirements can use stricter limits or 100% checks for defined characteristics.

Typical checks include dimensions and tolerances, colour and registration, print defects, foil and emboss alignment, lamination, glue and assembly strength, surface damage, cleanliness, barcode readability, pack count and carton marking.

Traceability and Action

Document, contain, correct, verify

Inspection findings are recorded against the order or batch. Suspect material is identified and separated, the cause is reviewed, corrective work is completed where practical, and the affected characteristic is verified again before release.

Pre-shipment inspection requirements, third-party inspection access and customer-specific checklists should be agreed before mass production.
