Response completeness matters as much as the data itself. A supplier who returns a detailed specification sheet within 48 hours of your request is showing you something real about their engineering capability. One who sends a photograph of a sample box is not.

Cost-Performance Trade-offs When Upgrading Ring Box Grades #

The cost delta between a 1.5mm and 2.0mm greyboard shell is not large — typically a 6–10% increase in the shell material cost per unit at volumes of 3,000–10,000 pieces. At 500-piece MOQ, the cost difference compresses because tooling amortisation dominates.

The meaningful cost driver in an upgrade is not the board — it’s the surface finish change. Moving from a standard PU leatherette wrap to a genuine linen-effect paper wrap adds cost but also changes the adhesive system. Linen-effect papers require a higher-tack water-based adhesive (peel strength target ≥ 3.5 N/25mm per ASTM D1876 T-peel) because the paper grain reduces contact surface area versus smooth leatherette.
