A magnetic foldable gift box combines rigid-board panels with flexible joints so it can ship flat and assemble into a presentation box. Magnet position, joint construction, corner locking, ribbon function, wrap material, insert and loaded product determine whether the box closes and stays square.

Define closure and assembly behavior

Magnets should align after the loaded box is assembled, not only on a flat empty sample. Their size, position, polarity and surrounding board affect closure. Additional corner tapes, locking tabs or adhesive strips may be used to stabilize the body, while ribbons may function as decoration, a lift tab, lid restraint or carrying element.

Do not treat a decorative ribbon as a load-bearing handle unless its attachment and reinforcement are designed and tested for that purpose. Inserts must hold the product without pushing the panels out of square.

Sample the complete loaded box

Approve flat-pack assembly, squareness, loaded closure, opening cycles, magnet alignment, ribbon behavior and surface rubbing. A printed sample is needed when foil, embossing, coating or dark wrap paper crosses joints or corners.

For parcel distribution, ISTA test procedures may be considered for the complete packed system. A foldable gift box alone is not automatically a shipping container.

Production and acceptance

Production begins after the dieline, board, wrap, magnets, ribbons, insert, artwork, loaded sample and packing are approved. Our QC team checks dimensions, fold joints, corner assembly, magnet polarity and alignment, ribbon attachment, wrap surface, insert fit and carton packing.

Common failures include reversed magnets, weak corners, a lid that opens under insert pressure, ribbon fraying, wrap cracking at joints and surface marks caused by flat-packed components rubbing in transit.

Can the ribbon be used as a carrying handle?
