Printing on Pouches: Film Structure, Artwork and Factory Quality Control
Printed pouch specifications must begin with the product, filling process and required protection. Pouch style, film or laminate, barrier, sealant, print position, closure, tear feature, dimensions and testing determine whether the graphics and package work together.
UGI Packaging prints and converts approved pouch structures in our factory within the confirmed project scope. We control production artwork, printing, cutting, forming, sealing and QC for the agreed construction. Specify product and filling conditions first
State whether the product is dry, oily, acidic, aromatic, abrasive, liquid, powder or another form. Provide fill temperature, sterilization or pasteurization conditions, headspace, shelf-life target, storage temperature, light sensitivity and distribution route. These inputs guide barrier and sealant decisions; graphics cannot compensate for an unsuitable laminate.
Choose stand-up, flat, side-gusseted, shaped or spouted construction according to filling and use. Zippers, valves, spouts and tear notches are separate components or features that affect artwork zones and sealing.

Build artwork around seals and distortion
Keep text, barcodes and critical graphics away from seals, folds, gussets and cut edges. A gusseted pouch changes shape when filled, so the visible area should be evaluated on a filled sample. Reverse printing can protect ink within a laminate, while surface printing requires suitable rub and product-resistance controls.

Proof and test the finished pouch
A PDF proof checks artwork and dimensions. A printed film proof checks color and registration. A formed, filled sample is needed for appearance, opening, closure, seal area and actual product interaction. Define seal-strength, leak, drop, bond, odor, migration or other acceptance tests according to the product and market.

What information is needed before selecting pouch film?

What is reverse printing on a pouch?
The ink is printed on the inner side of an outer film and protected within the laminate. The exact structure must be approved for the project.
Is a flat printed proof enough?
No when filling changes the shape or seals and closures are critical. Approve a formed and preferably filled sample.
Does a material data sheet prove food-contact compliance?
Not by itself. The finished construction, intended food, contact condition, market and supporting evidence must be evaluated together.
