Custom Rack Card Printing: Format, Paper and Factory Production
A rack card is a narrow printed card designed to remain visible in a holder while presenting enough information for a visitor to take it away. The format must fit the rack pocket, keep the headline above the pocket edge, resist slumping and use a clear front-to-back reading sequence.
UGI Packaging manufactures rack cards using our prepress, printing, cutting, coating and packing operations. A simple one-sheet promotion may also be compared with flyer printing, while a folded or multi-panel information piece belongs in a brochure printing specification.
Design for the rack, not only the full page
Measure the pocket width, visible height and usable depth. The logo, destination, product name or primary call to action must remain visible when the lower portion is hidden. Avoid putting essential contact details only in the covered area unless the card is expected to be removed before reading.
Two-sided cards need a deliberate sequence: the front attracts and identifies, while the back can hold directions, features, a map, schedule, QR code or response information. If the card uses a tear-off coupon, perforation position and remaining panel strength must be specified.

Choose paper and finish for handling
The card must be stiff enough to stand without excessive curl, yet economical for distribution. Coated stock supports strong images; uncoated stock is preferable if users must write on it. Lamination or coating can improve rub resistance, but it changes recyclability assumptions, writing behavior and folding or perforation performance.
A dark solid or border close to the trim makes small cutting movement more visible. Use safe margins and bleed, and avoid very fine reverse text on a substrate or process that cannot hold it consistently.
File approval and production
The Ghent Workgroup PDF settings are a useful production-file reference. Supply an approved PDF with fonts and images handled correctly, plus a separate dieline when the card is shaped or perforated.
UGI Packaging preflights the file, prints the sheet, applies the finish, trims or die-cuts the cards, adds perforation where specified and packs them in the agreed orientation. A physical sample is useful when rack fit, stiffness, coating or perforation must be confirmed.
QC and acceptance
Our QC team checks finished width, height, squareness, trim position, color consistency, surface condition, rack fit and packing count. Common failures include the headline falling below the pocket edge, card curl, mixed versions, scuffed dark solids and packing that forces field staff to rotate every card before loading a rack.
