Substrate and Structural Specifications #
The structural baseline for a hang tag starts with the board grade. For standard apparel and retail hang tags, we work with 250–350 gsm coated duplex board or solid bleached sulfate (SBS). For food gifting applications where the tag is packed inside a box with unwrapped product, we require FDA 21 CFR 176.170 compliance on the board and FDA 21 CFR 175.300 compliance on any coating — this rules out standard UV varnish systems and requires a food-grade aqueous coating instead.
Ink Systems and Chemical Compliance #
